Hi! I'm Ferny, a Software Engineer based in Manila.

what I've been doing

NextPay
Software Engineer

I'm currently working at NextPay where we empower MSME's by helping them manage their finances using tools that allow them to A) collect payments from various clients via card payments, e-wallets, and direct debit and B) disburse money to employees and suppliers - putting the power of big banking into the hands of smallers businesses. Booky
Software Engineer

Booky was a great start in my software engineering career in the Philippine startup landscape. I learned a lot about the process of conversing with stakeholders, ideating on solutions, developing proper system architecture, and responding to unforeseen production issues. I mostly worked on the server logic side of things where data is processed in the most efficient and effective manner but fortunately, I was able to touch the frontend (mobile) and infrastructure side of things as well, giving me a wider view of how things work.

Fordham University
Project Management Intern

I had the pleasure of living in New York for a couple of months, waking up everyday at a place 2 blocks away from Central Park, seeing sights that I never thought I'd see in the flesh for the first time. It was a growth-filled experience as it was my first ever work experience alongside the fact that it was halfway around the world from home. Working under the IT Project Management Office, I had a glimpse on what Project Management is about - ensuring that all the cogs are working well together and things are headed towards the right direction. I also gained experience in working on an information system that enables the stakeholders to elaborately know how the projects are doing.

Ateneo De Manila University
B.S. Management Information Systems

College was where I discovered a sense of passion in programming, making things work, figuring out why things aren't working when they're supposed to be doing so, and creating some sort of digital infrastructure. I also got to discover an appreciation for fields such as philosophy and theology. I'd like to think it sparked a huge sense of wonder in me, making me aware of the topics concerning the big questions in life such as the definition of the word good, the existence of an ideal society, and the reason humans believe in a higher being.
